This interior was not designed with neutrality in mind. Black and aubergine form the basis of the palette, complemented by deep green, wood and warm-toned metal. Colour is matched by an equally pronounced treatment of surfaces: black-and-white mosaic, porcelain tiles imitating wooden coffered flooring, wall panelling and the decorative divisions of the bespoke cabinetry.
One of the strongest elements is the panoramic wallpaper inspired by the ancient garden frescoes of the Villa of Livia. Its almost landscape-like character contrasts with the geometric order of the kitchen and the small-scale pattern of the floor. Aubergine cabinetry is paired with a black island, stove surround and dark detailing, while motifs introduced in the kitchen reappear throughout the dining and living areas.
In the living room, the composition is anchored by an extensive built-in bookcase, whose deep green colour and rhythmic divisions bring structure to another part of the interior. Strong colours, ornament and a broad range of materials are not softened by a neutral background. Instead, coherence comes from the repetition of the same colours, proportions and motifs throughout the space.
The design deliberately approaches the limits of decorative excess, while remaining governed by a clear compositional order.
